Seeking a Business Systems Manager to be responsible for organizing, planning, implementing and following through on Lean / Continuous Improvement initiatives, as established by Lean Manufacturing approach and designed to improve on-time delivery, productivity, quality, and cost.

The Manager will ensure that all aspects of the manufacturing and operations process run efficiently and in a timely manner to maximize the fullest potential of the plant, the equipment, and the staff, in order to yield the highest rate of return on our assets. The position will produce at a minimum 10x their salary in cost reduction savings.

The position is located at our extrusions plant

 

Key Responsibilities:

Continuous Improvement.

  • Utilize Continuous Improvement and operational excellence tools to drive business outcomes, including but not limited to A-3’s, Ishikawa diagrams, Visual Management Boards, and Daily Management Activities.
  • Deploy TPM implementation to the manufacturing areas to improve equipment reliability. Assist with the selection of equipment, implementation plan development, communication plan, training, event preparation, regular TPM Level audits, and deliver monthly updates on progress.

Training and Coaching.

  • Provide training on the full complement of principles and sub-systems. Assist with plant-wide training as required. Utilize Train-the-Trainer techniques to transfer knowledge to department resources enabling self-sufficiency to deploy throughout their processes.
  • Coach line leaders on the implementation of based management systems such as Daily Management, Performance Management, In-Control & Capable (ICC) and Total Productive Manufacturing (TPM) to achieve short/long-term improvements and sustainability.
  • Facilitate Kaizen events for the departments based on the business needs to achieve immediate and sustainable improvements. Plan, prepare and conduct events while teaching and transferring the methodology to department resources.
  • Lead and teach the organization about tools as it becomes the method of performing daily work. Demonstrate expected change agent behaviors to support the transition to culture.

Assessment.

  • Develop metrics and dashboard measures designed to include the entire plant population in both understandings of key performance indicators and necessary actions to improve KPI’s.
  • Plan and conduct Operational Excellence reviews and support departments with gap closure and follow-up.

Best Practice Transfer.

  • Coordinate with and secure support to/from the Center of Excellence in order to identify and implement best practices from across the businesses.
  • Transfer baseline practices and established best practices from other locations in support of the business objectives.

Business Planning.

  • Coordinate the development of department specific plans to ensure linkage to the operating plan.
  • Utilize the methodology to understand the business value, problems, proposed solutions and action plan with measurable results.
  • Coordinate with Accounting to tie improvement activities to (cost-saving initiatives)

Standard Work Instructions.

  • Develop, improve, and document standardized work for identified critical activities to improve productivity, safety, and quality objectives.

 

Skills:

  • Strong facilitation and training skills to deliver Lean Manufacturing concepts, principles and practices.
  • Must have strong team building skills and the ability to facilitate team-based initiatives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, business process improvement knowledge, and ability to train others with diverse backgrounds and education levels.
  • Strong Project Management skills
  • Ability to prepare and deliver effective presentations
  • Proficient with Windows and MS Office Suite

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution
  • A minimum of 3 years of work related experience facilitating and managing Lean Manufacturing programs.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Six to eight years of work-related experience facilitating and managing Lean Manufacturing programs.
  • Expert knowledge and work experience in the application of systems and Total Productive Manufacturing (TPM) implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability in providing leadership, achieving results, driving change and getting organizational support.
  • Experience in and a broad understanding of Extrusion and Fabricating facilities, processes, materials, and people, with demonstrated knowledge of Extrusion operations preferred.
  • Prefer the Bachelor’s Degree is in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering, from an accredited institution
  • Experience managing 5S programs
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certified
  • Advanced project management skills
  • Proficiency with Minitab
