Position Description:

 

Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Partnering with the Department/Area Managers to achieve their strategic and tactical plans while developing and executing complementary people plans that comply with the collective bargaining agreements.
  • Providing overall leadership to labor-related initiatives impacting the entire plant, to include employment and labor law, industrial relations, compliance line, worker’s compensation, diversity/EEO, union strategy, hourly employment practices, and local policy.
  • Directing the site security operation, including: management of contract guard force, physical site security, maintenance of security policies and procedure, and partnering with the Global Security organization to ensure security best practices.

 

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Coaching and teaching management and supervisory personnel on strategies and practices that will positively impact the business and support positive change.
  • Ensuring that all employment practices under his/her control, including hiring, promotions, demotions, and discipline are conducted in compliance with applicable law, company policy, and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Fostering/facilitating connections with local union representation and serving as the primary point of contact for all local labor issues and tactics.
  • Managing site-wide accountability processes for hourly employees, including: organizational design and coaching, workforce planning, internal job bidding processes, employee training, etc.
  • Managing the delivery and continuous process improvement of employee relations programs and participating in ongoing needs analysis.
  • Consulting with management at all levels, legal counsel, and state/federal agencies to enhance productivity, ensure compliance, and minimize the potential for litigation.

 

 

 

We are seeking candidates with the following skills and experience:

  • Demonstrated leadership and working knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws and regulations, and skill and experience in contract language/negotiations, arbitration, grievance, employment/labor law. Ability to translate legal/labor law, contract, policies in order to coach and train managers in resolving day-to-day issues.
  • Experienced and accomplished at improving business results through contract administration.
  • Solid consultative skills, relationship building, problem-solving, and coaching.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s level degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 8 years of Human Resources experience in an industrial environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years of labor relations experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or Labor Relations.
  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
